Last night, we hosted Taylor’s factory expert Andy Lund for a Road Show right here at our flagship store at The Star Vista. There was a beautiful array of Taylor guitars on display – from pieces showcasing the V-Class bracing to models worthy of a place in a museum.
Here are just a few of the guitars on show, and these are the models we’d love to tell you more about.
Taylor Custom 10705 Koi Blue Grand Symphony
The guitar that swept us off our feet – this drop-dead gorgeous Grand Symphony was one of the models that Taylor displayed at its annual Custom Guitar event at NAMM this year.
The custom model is finished in a unique Koi Blue stain. The beautiful sitka spruce top first meets the eye, and when flipped it around, reveals a beautiful quilted maple back and sides that’s reminiscent of the ocean waves.
More luxurious features adorn the guitar – the mother of pearl and abalone “Tropical Vine” inlay on the fretboard, figured Hawaiian koa binding and a hand-carved beveled armrest are just some of the stunning points on this one of a kind acoustic guitar.
Taylor Custom 10611 Blackwood Grand Auditorium
Another stunning guitar out of NAMM 2018, this beautiful custom Grand Auditorium is a 400 series at heart.
Taylor chose Blackwood as this guitar’s centerpiece. It possesses a tone which resembles koa or mahogany in its midrange focus, with a high end similar to that of rosewood. Taylor has also sourced from forests that are responsibly managed, making it a sustainable wood for guitar making.
Taylor Custom Grand Auditorium Redwood Top
Taylor fancies sinker redwood to be “cedar on steroids”. It’s got the warmth associated with cedar, with a little extra brightness and headroom. Coupled with AA Indian rosewood back and sides, this Grand Auditorium boasts excellent versatility, balance and response.
It also sports beautiful appointments like its mother of pearl soundhole rosette and fretboard inlays, and Gotoh 510 tuners in antique gold.
Taylor Builder’s Edition K14ce V-Class Grand Auditorium Acoustic Guitar w/Case
Taylor’s celebrated the debut of V-Class bracing with the Builder’s Edition – a line designed to help guitarists play and sound their very best.
The K14ce is built around playability and sound. The V-Class brace increases the volume and sustain of the guitar, while improving the intonation of the notes. The beveled armrest, body edges and cutaway make the guitar super ergonomic, and its silent satin finish adds a smooth look and feel while reducing body noise against the guitar while playing.
Taylor PS14ce Lutz Spruce, Milagro Brazilian
A member of Taylor’s Presentation Series – the zenith of elegance and sophistication – this PS14ce is as rare as a hen’s tooth.
It features a lutz spruce top with the revolutionary V-Class bracing and back and sides crafted from Milagro Brazilian rosewood. Luxurious appoinments include a beveled ebony armrest, an elaborate Nouveau inlay in paua and pearl, a paua rosette and edge trim.
Taylor Presentation Series PS12ce Grand Concert Acoustic Guitar w/Case
Another of Taylor’s Presentation series, the PS12ce is a guitar that typifies all the qualities of the line.
The comfortably compact Grand Concert begins with a sinker redwood top. The striped West African ebony back and sides are selected for their exceptional grain. More aesthetic appointments include a sparkling paua trim and Nouveau inlays on the bridge and fretboard. Playability is never sacrificed for looks, with a comfortable beveled ebony armrest and Venetian cutaway allowing you higher fret access.
